I recently caught up with Lydia Quezada in her home in Nuevo Casas Grandes. She was kind enough to grant an interview which you can view below.

Lydia Quezada Celado has been referred to as "the queen of grace", "Juan's best student", and "world class artist". She is the youngest of Juan's eight brothers and sisters. Her husband is Rito Talavera, equally talented, who, along with their accomplished children Moroni and Pabla, collaborates in the creation of fine art pottery.

If you are interested in Lydia's work, there are, at the time of this writing, a couple of very fine examples are being offered on ebay.

Here is the interview:

Thank you Spencer, for clearing us up on Lydia's full name, and a good explanation of why I had Talamantes in my head. Realizing that a percentage of the audience speaks and/or understands Spanish (better than I do) is a scary thing, and I find translating a bit difficult. Therefore I couldn't possibly let you hear the Spanish part lest you see what a lousy translator I am. Actually I'm kidding, but not about the lousy translating. I'll play with the technical possibilities in future productions. Thanks so much for your valued input. Bill

Oops -- Lydia's name is Lydia Quezada Celado. Talamantes is the name of her brother, Nicolas Quezada Celado's wife, Gloria, which makes her nephews Leonel Quezada Talamantes and Jose Quezada Talamantes. Not easy for us Americanos. Enjoyed the interview! I did feel frustrated, however, at not being able to follow Lydia's words in Spanish, which were muted and overridden by the English. Would it be possible technically somehow to let us hear the person being interviewed, perhaps by freezing the action momentarily while the translator speaks, rather than doing both simultaneously?
